Crohn’s disease – a debilitating, chronic, inflammatory condition

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of inflammatory conditions that includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis – cases of which are currently increasing in frequency across the globe. 1,2
Crohn’s disease is known to be a lifelong condition affecting 1.3 million people worldwide. 3,4
It is commonly diagnosed in those who are in the prime of their life, aged 25-39 years old. 3,5
Patients with Crohn’s disease can experience distressing symptoms that not only negatively impact personal relationships and career prospects, but may also lead to hospitalisation and surgery. 3,6,7

  • 89% of Crohn’s disease patients admitted to hospital within the previous five years 3
  • Half of all IBD patients will require surgery within 10 years of diagnosis 8
